Excavator Hire for Pool Digs & Site Prep

Bulk cut, pool excavation and pad prep with a compact 5.5 tonne Kubota that fits where bigger machines can’t — dry hire from Campbellfield, honest published rates.

Move serious dirt in tight suburban blocks

Pool digs and site cuts need a machine with real digging power that can still get into a backyard. The Kubota U55-4 hits that sweet spot — enough grunt to shift bulk material, compact enough to work behind the house without tearing up the whole block getting there.

Pool Excavation

Dig out fibreglass and concrete pool shells to shape and depth, working carefully to the pool builder’s set-out.

Bulk Site Cut

Cut and level a sloping block ready for a build, driveway or slab — bulk excavation without the big-machine footprint.

Pad & Base Prep

Prepare a level, compacted pad for sheds, tanks, slabs and outbuildings, dug to the required depth and fall.

Spoil Removal Loading

Load spoil into trucks, bins or dumpers for cart-away, keeping the dig moving and the site clear.

Access & Backfill

Form temporary access, then backfill and reinstate around the pool or new structure once works are complete.

Levelling & Grading

Fine-grade the surrounds and set finished levels ready for paving, coping and landscaping.

Check your access width first

The biggest question on any backyard pool dig is access. At roughly 5.5 tonne the U55-4 is compact for its class, but it still needs a clear path to the dig — measure your narrowest gate, side path or gap between the house and fence before you book. If a section is too tight, you may need to remove a fence panel temporarily to get the machine through.

Why the Kubota U55-4 suits pool & site work

It’s big enough to move real volume — roughly 5.5 tonne with a ~40 hp Kubota diesel and around 3.8 m dig depth — yet compact and light enough to fit through side accesses that stop larger excavators. Reduced tail swing helps in confined backyards, and rubber tracks limit damage to driveways and lawns on the way in and out.

That combination makes it a genuinely practical choice for residential pool digs and site prep across Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
